Posts from September 2026

With the glorious autumnal weather we’ve been enjoying this year – hurrah (!) – we haven’t wanted to break the spell and do our usual pre season posts about the looming winter bugs season. We’ll save that for next month even if, with it being October tomorrow, it’s a rather short reprieve…

So, with our sights still firmly set on yet another glorious September morning, we’re going to talk about one of those seemingly innocuous little habits that it’s all too easy to slip into at this time of year.

And, before you ask, that includes us too (!).
Last week we gave a gentle reminder that, regardless of how it may seem (!), everyone is doing the best that they can.

Yes, they are.

And, that includes you…

If you missed it, you can find it here.

So, what if it’s you, having one of those days?!?

You know, the ones where you never quite seem to get going.
From time to time we all have “one of those days” – or possibly weeks (!) – where nothing quite goes to plan. Or we can’t even seem to do the simplest thing. And, for some inexplicable reason, it’s usually something we’ve done 100’s or 1000’s of times before without a second thought. Then, out of the blue, we just don’t seem able to do it. The good news is that we will tomorrow – or the next day (!) – when normal service resumes….

So, if this is you – or someone you know – then please just stop for a minute.
With the rather unusual weather we’ve “enjoyed” this year – and that’s the politest way we could think of putting it (!) – it’s not surprising that many people have succumbed to the lure of the sofa and put exercise well down their list of priorities. If not at the bottom.

While it may be a cliché, our bodies are designed to be active rather than slumped, semi comatose, for hours on end. And this applies equally to home as well as to work…
We were reminded of this truism a few days ago as we listened to someone – who had better remain nameless (!) – describing in great detail how they’d recently “put someone right”. We won’t go into details, but are sure you’ve listened to similar stories in the past – or been on the receiving end of such unsolicited advice.

However, it didn’t stop there, but was followed by great indignation when their comments weren’t well received. In fact, you could say that they got a dose of their own medicine (!).

And, as an aside, isn’t it ironic that those who are best at handing out advice – in all its different forms – are so bad at taking it?!?
